Dear Brianna

As I was doing a final scrollie-scrollie through Pinterest before powering down for the night (don't judge, one monkey at a time), this Truthbomb from Danielle LaPorte dropped from the top of my screen to the bottom. I stopped and re-read it. "Grant Yourself Permission," it says.

Yes, I thought to myself. Do give yourself permission. Please give me permission.

And this letter began to write itself in my head.

Dear Brianna,

I give you permission to love yourself again.
I give you permission to feel everything you feel, deeply and with a curious and nonjudgmental mind.
I give you permission to be whole, and to reintegrate your fractured Gemini-ness into the intricately mismatched stained glass window of people and passions it once was.
I give you permission to explore your present authentic self, paying close attention to what naturally pops up, what gravitates and boomerangs back now that you've made the space, and from what arises positive feelings.

I give you permission to love your body, and show your body the appreciation it deserves with no expectation, no timeline, and no pressure to change it in any way for better or for worse.
I give you permission to listen, to remain quiet and still, and tuned in to yourself and your own vibration, and to really hear what your intuition is saying to you.
I give you permission to use your voice and speak your truth and free yourself from the handcuffs of silence and secrecy.
I give you permission to deliver silence to those who don't deserve to hear your voice.

I give you permission to feel the stages of grief; to be angry at those who have knowingly or unknowingly disrespected you and dismantled your life, but to seek acceptance of, and peace in, the reality of the present.
I give you permission to set boundaries that make your heart feel safe and calm and loved, but most importantly, open and free.
I give you permission to let go of cynicism, and to believe that what you deserve exists and that you will experience it in this lifetime as you are meant to experience it.

I give you permission to create a space and place to heal.
I give you permission to explore new things, new people and new places with an open mind, untethered to the experiences you once wished for and present to your being.
I give you permission to dabble and play with all of those passions-in-the-making on your back burners, with no deadline or pressure or questioning or expectation of an outcome.

I give you permission to be vulnerable, to bare your path to those who are rising to connect with you right now, and;
I give you permission to trust that they will not hurt you for having done so.
I give you permission to accept the gifts of help, support and comfort that are offered to you without guilt or self-pity.

I give you permission to be happy, and to laugh freely and loudly and smile often, and in fact, to seek activities and moments that will make this happen.
I give you permission to love your life again, and to believe that it does love you in return.

The sun will come up again.

Your ever-loving, ever-patient, ever-present self,
Me

*This post is likely to grow and change as I continue to reflect on the process of not holding back, not hiding and not being afraid. Thanks for being open to the fluidity!*
